Required Qualifications
Education & Certification
- Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) degree
- A valid teaching certificate recognized by, or eligible for certification in Nunavut (Internationally educated teachers lacking a Canadian teaching certificate must have their credentials assessed through Pathways To Teach Canada)

Desired Qualifications

Language and Cultural Assets
- Proficiency in Inuktitut (both spoken and written)
- Experience in education based on Inuit Qaujimajatuqangit principles
- Teaching experience in bilingual or ESL environments
- Background in cross-cultural or northern-Canada educational settings

Teaching Practice & Classroom Environment
- Experience with differentiated instruction and inclusive educational practices
- Training or experience in evidence-based literacy instruction
- Knowledge of current assessment strategies to enhance learning
- Experience creating a positive learning environment through effective classroom management techniques (e.g., Restitution, Tribes, Positive Effective Behavior Supports)

Relationships & Student Engagement
- Demonstrated ability to cultivate respectful relationships with students, families, colleagues, and community members
- Experience in fostering student wellbeing and engagement
- Involvement with students beyond the classroom as appropriate

Collaboration & Professional Practice
- Experience in collaboratively planning instruction and student support
- Ability to work effectively as part of a school team
- Openness to learning and contributing in a community-oriented environment

Compensation and benefits
- Salary Range: $93,906 - $147,243 (based on experience)
- Nunavut Northern Allowance for Arctic Bay, Nunavut: $25,453
- Subsidized Housing: NOT available

Conditions of Employment
- Current employees of the Government of Nunavut must hold a valid Nunavut teaching certificate.
- Applicants outside Nunavut must provide a copy of a current public-school teaching certificate from a Canadian jurisdiction recognized by the Nunavut Department of Education. Applications missing this documentation will not be considered.
