Required Qualifications
Education & Certification
• Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) degree
• A valid teaching certificate recognized by, or eligibility for certification in, Nunavut (Teachers educated internationally without a Canadian teaching certificate must have their credentials assessed through Pathways To Teach Canada)

Desired Qualifications
Candidates do not need to meet all qualifications; relevant experience and a commitment to community-centered education will be valued.
Language and Cultural Assets
• Proficiency in Inuktitut (both verbal and written)
• Experience with education based on Inuit Qaujimajatuqangit
• Background in teaching within bilingual or ESL environments
• Experience in educational contexts in cross-cultural or northern Canada settings

Teaching Practice & Classroom Environment
• Experience with differentiated instruction and inclusive teaching practices
• Training or experience related to evidence-based literacy development
• Familiarity with contemporary assessment methods to guide learning
• Ability to foster a positive learning environment through effective classroom management strategies (e.g., Restitution, Tribes, Positive Effective Behavior Supports)

Relationships & Student Engagement
• Demonstrated ability to establish respectful relationships with students, families, colleagues, and stakeholders
• Experience in promoting student wellbeing and engagement
• Involvement with students outside of the classroom, as appropriate

Collaboration & Professional Practice
• Experience in collaboratively planning instruction and student support
• Capability to function as a cooperative member of a school team
• Participation in a shared, community-oriented learning environment

Compensation and Benefits
• Salary Range: $93,906 - $147,243 (dependent on experience)
• Nunavut Northern Allowance for Qikiqtarjuaq, Nunavut: $22,638
• Subsidized Housing: Staff housing available, though sharing may be required.

Conditions of Employment
• Current employees of the Government of Nunavut must hold a valid Nunavut teaching certificate.
• Applicants from outside Nunavut must submit a copy of a current public-school teaching certificate from a Canadian jurisdiction recognized by the Nunavut Department of Education. Applications lacking this documentation will not be considered.
