About This Role

Key Responsibilities

1) Teaching, Coaching & Skill Development
- Implement the PE curriculum while delivering exceptional coaching sessions for both Primary and Secondary students.
- Engage with students across a range of skill levels, ensuring a safe, inclusive, enjoyable, and progressive learning atmosphere.
- Strengthen core sports offerings in volleyball, basketball, football, and swimming, with proficiency in at least one area preferred.
- Facilitate sessions in additional sports such as badminton, tennis, dance, fencing, yoga, fitness, or athletics, depending on your expertise.
- Promote physical literacy, teamwork, resilience, sportsmanship, and a lifelong enjoyment of physical activity.

2) Planning, Assessment & Student Progress
- Develop captivating, structured lessons or sessions that adhere to departmental standards.
- Provide ongoing feedback to students while tracking their skill enhancement and overall engagement.
- Assist with internal assessments and reporting as required.
- Support IGCSE PE theory or practical components when applicable (this is desirable but not obligatory).

3) Co-curricular Sport, Fixtures & Competitive Leagues
- Lead or assist with after-school training sessions for various age groups.
- Coach teams for local leagues and tournaments, showing flexibility with hours and days during competition seasons.
- Aid in organizing fixtures, overseeing transportation, supervision, equipment, and logistics for event days.
- Foster inclusive participation while cultivating talent and competitive excellence.

4) Swimming Provision
- Support swimming lessons for K–12 students as needed.
- Assist novice, developing, or squad swimmers based on your experience and certifications.
- Follow all safety, supervision, and poolside protocols in collaboration with lifeguards and the Head of Sport.

5) Safety, Conduct & Professionalism
- Maintain high standards of safeguarding, health and safety, and student behavior.
- Ensure appropriate supervision ratios and the safe use of sports equipment and facilities.
- Prepare teaching/coaching areas and assist with general departmental functions.
- Demonstrate professional behavior, punctuality, and effective communication with students, colleagues, and families.

6) Co-Curricular, House System & Community Engagement
- Conduct or support sports clubs, recreational fitness sessions, or wellbeing programs.
- Engage in the House system through inter-House competitions and events.
- Collaborate on school-wide initiatives such as sports days, tournaments, swim galas, charity events, and festivals.
- Advocate for a positive sporting culture that reflects RGSPP’s values and commitment to holistic education.

Profile of the Successful Candidate

Essential Qualifications & Experience
Candidates should meet the criteria for either the teaching pathway or the coaching pathway:

Teaching pathway:
- A degree along with a PGCE, B.Ed., QTS, or a recognized international teaching qualification.

Coaching pathway:
- Accredited coaching qualifications (from a national body or international equivalent) in at least one sport.
- Extensive experience coaching children or young people in school, club, or community environments.

For both pathways:
- Experience working with children of various ages.
- Experience coaching one or more school sports (volleyball, basketball, football, swimming strongly preferred).
- Availability for flexible hours during competition seasons.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Desirable Qualifications & Experience
- Ability to teach IGCSE PE or contribute to theory/practical components.
- Experience coaching multiple sports.
- Certification in swimming instruction/coaching or lifeguarding.
- First aid qualification.
- Experience coaching teams in leagues, tournaments, or clubs.
- Background in an international or multilingual educational setting.

All Teachers at RGSPP
- Contribute to the pastoral care and holistic provision for students at RGSPP.
- Teach (or be available for Private Study supervision or cover) a designated timetable each week.
- Accept responsibilities within their department as reasonably required, including assisting with setting and grading internal examinations, entrance exams, and scholarship assessments, along with recording results.
- Develop and share resources and best practices, contributing to departmental meetings and the online departmental handbook.
- Set and mark assignments in accordance with school and department policies; provide constructive feedback; maintain accurate records of student achievement and progress; prepare assessments and reports as needed.
- Attend meetings (staff meetings, INSET, Parents’ Briefings) and engage with parents at planned school events and other suitable opportunities.
