Required Qualifications
Education & Certification
- Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) degree
- A valid teaching certificate recognized by or eligible for certification in Nunavut (Internationally educated teachers without a Canadian teaching certificate must have their credentials evaluated through Pathways To Teach Canada)

Desired Qualifications
Candidates need not meet every qualification; relevant experience and a commitment to community-centered education are highly valued.
Language and Cultural Assets
- Proficient in Inuktitut (both spoken and written)
- Experience supporting education rooted in Inuit Qaujimajatuqangit
- Background in bilingual or ESL teaching settings
- Experience teaching in cross-cultural or northern Canada environments

Teaching Practice & Classroom Environment
- Knowledge of differentiated instruction and inclusive educational practices
- Training or experience in evidence-based literacy strategies
- Training or experience in implementing contemporary assessment techniques to enhance student learning
- Experience creating a positive learning environment through effective classroom management strategies (e.g., Restitution, Tribes, Positive Effective Behavior Supports)

Relationships & Student Engagement
- Demonstrated ability to cultivate respectful relationships with students, families, colleagues, and stakeholders
- Experience in fostering student wellbeing and engagement
- Experience connecting with students outside the classroom context, as appropriate

Collaboration & Professional Practice
- Experience in collaboratively planning instruction and supporting student needs
- Experience working collaboratively as part of a school team
- Experience learning and engaging within a shared, community-focused environment

Compensation and Benefits
- Salary Range: $93,906 - $147,243 (based on experience)
- Nunavut Northern Allowance for Sanikiluaq, Nunavut: $20,293
- Subsidized Housing: NOT available

Conditions of Employment
- Current Government of Nunavut employees must hold a valid Nunavut teaching certificate.
- Applicants from outside Nunavut must provide a copy of a current public-school teaching certificate from a Canadian jurisdiction recognized by the Nunavut Department of Education. Applications without this documentation will not be considered.
