About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity to work in a highly collaborative and supportive environment where every student is known, valued, and supported. As a smaller-than-average secondary school, we pride ourselves on our strong sense of community and commitment to high expectations for both staff and students.

The successful candidate will play a key role in inspiring and motivating students to achieve their full potential in PE, while contributing to the wider life of the school. Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver engaging and well-structured PE lessons to students across Key Stages 3 and 4.
  • Assess, monitor, and report on student progress, ensuring all students are supported to achieve their best.
  • Prepare students for qualifications and external examinations.
  • Manage classroom behaviour effectively to create a safe and positive learning environment.
  • Participate in extracurricular activities, including sports fixtures and events.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to develop innovative teaching resources and strategies.
  • Undertake pastoral duties, such as acting as a form tutor and supporting students with academic or personal challenges.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of school policies and practices.

Requirements

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and a degree relevant to PE.
  • Proven experience teaching PE across Key Stages 3 and 4 with good or outstanding outcomes (or strong observations for Early Career Teachers).
  • A passion for teaching and learning in PE, with the ability to inspire and challenge students.
  • Excellent organisational skills, time management, and the ability to use data effectively to inform planning.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and a commitment to teamwork.
  • A positive, can-do attitude and a belief in the right of every student to fulfil their potential.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.

Benefits

  • The opportunity to work in a popular and growing school with an excellent reputation in the local community.
  • Access to outstanding career development opportunities, including programmes across the Generations Multi Academy Trust.
  • A truly collaborative working environment with supportive colleagues.
  • Modern teaching facilities and resources.
  • Additional financial incentives, such as exam marker payments, weekend sporting fixture allowances, and a £1,000 employee referral scheme.
  • Subsidised nursery provision through Ashbourne Nurseries.
