Required Qualifications
Education & Certification
- Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) degree
- A valid teaching certificate recognized by, or eligibility for certification in Nunavut (Internationally educated teachers lacking a Canadian teaching certificate must have their credentials evaluated through Pathways To Teach Canada)

Desired Qualifications
Candidates are not required to meet every qualification; relevant experience and a commitment to community-focused education are highly valued.
Language and Cultural Assets
- Proficiency in Inuktitut (both verbal and written)
- Experience in promoting education based on Inuit Qaujimajatuqangit
- Teaching experience in bilingual or ESL settings
- Background in cross-cultural or northern Canadian teaching environments

Teaching Practice & Classroom Environment
- Experience with differentiated instruction and inclusive teaching strategies
- Training or experience in evidence-based literacy development
- Familiarity with contemporary assessment techniques to enhance learning
- Ability to cultivate a positive learning environment through effective classroom management methods (e.g., Restitution, Tribes, Positive Effective Behavior Supports)

Compensation and benefits
- Salary Range: $93,906 - $147,243 (commensurate with experience)
- Nunavut Northern Allowance for Kimmirut, Nunavut: $19,122
- Subsidized Housing: NOT available

Conditions of Employment
- Current employees of the Government of Nunavut must have a valid Nunavut teaching certificate.
- Applicants from outside Nunavut must provide a copy of a current public-school teaching certificate from a recognized Canadian jurisdiction as accepted by the Nunavut Department of Education. Applications lacking this documentation will not be considered.
