General Responsibilities: All Staff at Yasmina British Academy

• Contribute to the academy's vision and strategic objectives while supporting the goals outlined in the improvement plan and self-evaluation document.

• Follow health and safety regulations and adhere to the academy's policies on safe working practices and equal opportunities.

• Comply with the academy's Performance Management Policy by setting ambitious annual objectives and serving as a performance management reviewer if designated by the Principal.

• Engage in annual training concerning child protection, safeguarding, and health and safety, along with any additional training necessary for the improvement or performance management of the academy.

• Maintain compliance with the academy's dress code at all times, including wearing a photo ID/lanyard.

• Abide by the academy's Acceptable Use Policy (AUP) for computer usage consistently.

• Attend all staff briefings.

• Sign in and out at the academy's reception if off-site during normal working hours.

Key Responsibilities and Tasks: Planning, Preparation, Teaching, and Lesson Management

• Create an environment that promotes outstanding learning and teaching.

• Establish clear teaching objectives and specify methods for instruction and assessment.

• Develop tasks that challenge students and sustain high levels of engagement.

• Set ambitious yet achievable expectations.

• Define clear targets that build on students' prior learning.

• Recognize students with special educational needs or exceptional abilities.

• Deliver structured lessons that ensure pace, motivation, and challenge.

• Utilize assessments effectively to guarantee comprehensive coverage of study programs.

• Use performance data and key indicators to guide lesson planning and provide differentiated instruction tailored to individual student needs.

• Ensure effective teaching practices and make optimal use of available instructional time.

• Maintain a productive learning environment in line with the academy's standards, fostering punctuality, behavior, quality of work, and homework completion.

• Implement various teaching methods suited to the content, organize information, highlight key concepts, and employ appropriate vocabulary.

• Use effective questioning techniques, actively listen to students, and address errors and misunderstandings.

• Select suitable learning resources and enhance study skills through the library, I.C.T., and other educational technologies.

• Ensure that students acquire and reinforce knowledge, skills, and understanding pertinent to the subject.

• Reflect critically on teaching practices to improve effectiveness.

Monitoring, Assessment, Recording, and Reporting

• Assess the achievement of learning objectives and apply this information to refine specific teaching aspects.

• Evaluate and monitor student work, setting targets for their progress.

• Utilize performance data to inform lesson planning, ensuring that learning and teaching consistently enhance student outcomes.

• Systematically assess and record students' progress, maintaining records to track understanding and work completion while identifying strengths and areas for improvement.

• Conduct assessments as requested by examination boards and in accordance with departmental and academy procedures.

• Prepare and deliver informative reports for parents.

Curriculum Development

• Participate in curriculum development in specific subjects or areas of the academy's work, establishing clear targets and success criteria for enhancement or maintenance.

• Engage in the academy’s visioning activities.

Other Professional Requirements

• Have a working understanding of teachers’ professional responsibilities and legal obligations.

• Exhibit expertise in relevant subject(s) or specialism(s) to facilitate effective teaching.

• Build effective working relationships and demonstrate exemplary personal and professional conduct.

• Aim to provide every child with the opportunity to realize their potential and meet high expectations.

• Collaborate with colleagues to ensure resource sharing and effective utilization for the benefit of the academy, department, and students.

• Participate in promotional and liaison events, such as Open Evenings/Afternoons, Parent-Teacher Consultations, and activities with partner academies.

• Communicate effectively with parents.

Minimum Qualifications

• A Bachelor’s Degree in Education or a related field, along with a teaching qualification.

Minimum Experience

• A minimum of 2 years of experience teaching a specialized subject up to GCSE and A Level is preferred but not mandatory.

Job Specific Knowledge & Skills

• Extensive knowledge of volleyball, basketball, and athletics.

• Experience in delivering exam PE - Edexcel GCSE and A Level.

• Background in coaching and leading high-level sports teams.

• Previous experience working with students for whom English is not their first language.

• A strong passion for teaching and a commitment to holistic education.

• High professionalism and awareness of children's well-being.

• Recent and ongoing involvement in extracurricular activities.

• Respect for all members of the school community, irrespective of their position, gender, age, or ethnic background.

• A constructive and solution-oriented approach to professional life.

• A clear enhanced Disclosure and Barring Services check or police clearance.

Compensation

£35,000 - £55,000 (Tax-Free Equivalent)
