Job Brief

We are looking for a proficient ESL teacher to join our dedicated team. In this role, you will create courses specifically designed for non-native speakers, employing a range of activities and methods that cover all aspects of the English language, including speaking, writing, and comprehension.

Scope of Work

ESL teachers are tasked with preparing instructional materials and developing lessons that encompass the different components of the English language, both written and oral. You will track student progress and customize plans for those with distinct needs. Additionally, it is vital to cultivate a nurturing classroom environment and encourage students to reach their learning goals.

Key responsibilities of the ESL teacher include:

  • Structuring coursework and educational materials.
  • Assessing student development and producing reports.
  • Complying with applicable guidelines for teaching English as a second language.
  • Delivering over 20 classroom lessons each week.
  • Creating lesson plans utilizing Google Classroom.
  • Organizing and coordinating various events.
  • Participating in departmental meetings with Lead Teachers.
  • Drafting evaluation rubrics for the term.
  • Handling gradebook responsibilities.
  • Designing, assigning, and grading homework tasks.
  • Performing daily duty assignments.
  • Attending staff meetings.
  • Leading a variety of extracurricular activities (ECAs).
  • Planning and supervising school trips.
  • Organizing and executing Christmas Shows.
  • Evaluating student assignments.
  • Covering for colleagues who are absent.
  • Setting student performance targets.
  • Participating in personal goal-setting meetings.

Requirements

  • A degree in a language-related field and an ESL or certification.
  • Basic proficiency in software, preferably Google Suites, for administrative tasks like updating student records.
  • To succeed in this role, a patient and resilient attitude, adaptability, and strong communication skills are crucial.
  • Proficiency in spoken and written Russian is a plus.
  • Flexibility: the teacher may need to work evenings and weekends to accommodate learners' needs, with schedules subject to ongoing adjustments.

As a teacher at PBISS, you will create personalized educational plans catering to each student’s needs and assess their progress through assignments and evaluations. ESL teachers are also expected to foster positive relationships with parents and fellow educators to aid in monitoring student advancement.

Compensation

£30,000 - £45,000+ (Regional Equivalent)
