Ulaajuk Elementary School, situated in the beautiful community of Pond Inlet, Nunavut, serves the local population. The school accommodates approximately 305 students from K-6 and is supported by a dedicated team of 37 staff members. Required Qualifications
Education & Certification
- Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) degree
- A valid teaching certificate recognized by, or eligibility for certification in Nunavut (Internationally educated teachers lacking a Canadian teaching certificate must have their credentials evaluated through Pathways To Teach Canada)

Desired Qualifications
Candidates need not meet all qualifications; relevant experience and a commitment to community-focused education are highly valued.

Language and Cultural Assets
- Proficiency in Inuktitut (both spoken and written)
- Experience in education informed by Inuit Qaujimajatuqangit
- Background in teaching in bilingual or ESL environments
- Experience in cross-cultural or northern Canadian teaching contexts

Teaching Practice & Classroom Environment
- Knowledge of differentiated instruction and inclusive practices
- Training or experience in evidence-based literacy development
- Familiarity with current assessment methods to guide learning
- Proven ability to foster a positive learning environment with effective classroom management strategies (e.g., Restitution, Tribes, Positive Effective Behavior Supports)

Relationships & Student Engagement
- Skills in building respectful relationships with students, families, colleagues, and community members
- Experience in promoting student well-being and engagement
- Capacity to connect with students outside the classroom when appropriate

Collaboration & Professional Practice
- Experience in collaboratively planning instructional strategies and student support
- Ability to work effectively as a member of a school team
- Experience contributing to a shared, community-oriented environment

Compensation and Benefits
- Salary Range: $93,906 - $147,243 (commensurate with experience)
- Nunavut Northern Allowance for Pond Inlet, Nunavut: $24,214
- Housing: Subsidized housing is available, although sharing may be necessary.

Conditions of Employment
- Current employees of the Government of Nunavut must hold a valid Nunavut teaching certificate.
- Applicants from outside Nunavut should provide a valid public-school teaching certificate from a Canadian jurisdiction recognized by the Nunavut Department of Education. Applications lacking this documentation will not be considered.
