About the School
Inuksuit School is located in the picturesque hamlet of Qikiqtarjuaq, Nunavut, and serves the local community. The school accommodates approximately 170 students from Kindergarten to Grade 12 and is staffed by a dedicated team of 21 educators, all enriched by a strong Inuit cultural heritage.

Required Qualifications
Education & Certification
• Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) degree
• A valid teaching certificate recognized by or eligible for certification in Nunavut (Teachers with international education without a Canadian teaching certificate must have their credentials evaluated through Pathways To Teach Canada)

Desired Qualifications
While candidates do not need to meet every qualification, relevant experience and a commitment to community-focused education are highly valued.
Language and Cultural Assets
• Proficiency in Inuktitut (both spoken and written)
• Experience with education based on Inuit Qaujimajatuqangit
• Background in teaching in bilingual or ESL environments
• Experience in cross-cultural or northern Canadian educational settings

Teaching Practice & Classroom Environment
• Experience with differentiated instruction and inclusive teaching strategies
• Training or background in evidence-based literacy development
• Familiarity with contemporary assessment methods to guide learning
• Ability to foster a positive learning environment through effective classroom management techniques (e.g., Restitution, Tribes, Positive Effective Behavior Supports)

Relationships & Student Engagement
• Proven ability to build respectful relationships with students, families, colleagues, and community members
• Experience in promoting student wellbeing and engagement
• Involvement with students beyond classroom activities, as appropriate

Collaboration & Professional Practice
• Experience in collaborative planning for instruction and student support
• Ability to work collaboratively as part of a school team
• Engagement in learning and contribution within a community-focused environment

Compensation and benefits
• Salary Range: $93,906 - $147,243 (based on experience)
• Nunavut Northern Allowance for Qikiqtarjuaq, Nunavut: $22,638
• Subsidized Housing: NOT available

Conditions of Employment
• Current employees of the Government of Nunavut must hold a valid Nunavut teaching certificate.
• Applicants from outside Nunavut must provide a current public-school teaching certificate from a Canadian jurisdiction recognized by the Nunavut Department of Education. Applications lacking this documentation will not be considered.
