About This Role

Job Title: Artificial Intelligence (AI) Integration Teacher

Reports To: Director of Technology & Innovation

Liaises with: School Management, Marketing, All K-12 Students & Teachers, Parents

Job Summary

The AI Integration Teacher will be responsible for designing, implementing, and overseeing AI-integrated educational initiatives across K-12 grade levels. This role focuses on leveraging artificial intelligence to enhance learning experiences, foster innovation, and support teachers and students in understanding and applying AI technologies.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Curriculum Development and Integration

  • Develop innovative, age-appropriate AI curricula for K-12 students, including explicit instruction in responsible use, AI ethics, and academic integrity

  • Collaborate with teaching staff to integrate AI concepts into existing subjects with curriculum driven outcomes, ensuring an outcomes-first approach rather than tool-driven implementation

  • Collaborate with teaching staff to create project-based learning opportunities that engage students in hands-on AI applications, aligned to subject learning outcomes and appropriate expectations by grade level

  • Develop and maintain a shared repository of AI units, lessons, and resources, including documentation, update cycles, and onboarding materials to support consistency and long-term sustainability

2. Professional Development and Training

  • Design and conduct workshops and training sessions for teachers on AI tools and applications

  • Source PD opportunities for teachers related to the application of AI in teaching and learning

  • Provide ongoing support and resources to educators to enhance their understanding and teaching of AI concepts

  • Foster a collaborative environment for teachers to share insights and best practices regarding AI integration and policy

3. Project Management

  • Manage AI-related projects from inception to execution, ensuring alignment with school goals and educational standards

  • Facilitate student-led initiatives, such as AI clubs or hackathons, to encourage peer learning and application of AI technologies

4. Community and Industry Engagement

  • Build partnerships with local businesses, universities, and organizations to enhance AI programming and resources

  • Organize events, such as guest speaker series or community showcases of student projects, to promote AI awareness in the broader community

5. Resource Management

  • Oversee the procurement of AI-related tools and resources, ensuring effective allocation of funding

  • Maintain and manage AI hardware and software, troubleshooting issues to ensure smooth operation

6. General

  • Release time from teaching duties is approximately 80% but will vary from year-to-year depending on the needs of the instructional program

  • Participate in the school’s extra-curricular activities related to STEAM and technology

  • Support the school’s mission and vision

  • Contribute to the school’s marketing efforts related to the role and AI

Education & Certification

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, educational technology, or related field preferred

  • Master’s degree preferred.

  • Alberta (Canada) Teacher Certification or the ability to obtain Alberta certification will be considered an asset

Experience

  • Minimum 3-5 years teaching experience in a K-12 school

  • Experience in K-12 curriculum design and implementation will be considered an asset

  • Experience applying AI in a K-12 educational setting

Skills

  • Strong understanding of AI concepts, machine learning, and data analytics

  • Strong project management skills, with the ability to handle multiple tasks and deadlines

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with educators, students, and community stakeholders

  • Preference will be given to candidates who are proficient in using programming languages (e.g., Python, Java) and AI frameworks

Compensation
