We are looking for an outstanding Assistant Headteacher: SENCo, who can lead, develop and enhance the teaching and pastoral support strategies for our relatively small SEND cohort within our dedicated Ursula Suite. You will:

  • Evaluate the quality of teaching and support, and develop the most effective provision for students

  • Create a vision, sense of purpose and pride in the Ursula Suite, maintaining a secure environment in which purposeful learning and support can take place

  • Act as a role model with high expectations of all staff and students

  • Create an achievement culture, including rewards, identification of progression routes and successes

  • Be accountable for the strategic direction, leadership and management of the SEND support provided from the Ursula Suite, including the development of related policies, plans and targets

  • Be accountable for the highest standards of achievement for SEND students

  • Promote the highest standards of Teaching & Learning as the Lead Learner in pedagogy and support practice

  • Effectively line manage the SEND staff to ensure there is a positive system of care, support and social and personal development
