About This Role

Sri KDU International School Klang is seeking a dedicated Bilingual Co-Teacher to start in August 2026, who is a Chinese speaker, to join our vibrant and dynamic school community. The ideal candidate will have a strong commitment to bilingual education, embodying our innovative Co-Teaching and Co-Planning Educational Model. This role is central to delivering a cohesive and comprehensive learning experience across core subjects such as Mathematics, Science, and Humanities, through a curriculum that aligns with the British National Curriculum and integrates the best of both British and Chinese educational methodologies. The successful candidate will co-plan, co-teach, co-assess, and co-reflect alongside the Bilingual Homeroom Teacher, a native English-speaking teacher, ensuring that our students develop fluency in both English and Chinese and are prepared for global success.

About the Role

The Bilingual Co-Teacher is a Chinese speaker with a strong commitment to bilingual education, embodying our innovative Co-Teaching and Co-Planning Educational Model. This role is central to delivering a cohesive and comprehensive learning experience across core subjects such as Mathematics, Science, and Humanities, through a curriculum that aligns with the British National Curriculum and integrates the best of both British and Chinese educational methodologies. The successful candidate will co-plan, co-teach, co-assess, and co-reflect alongside the Bilingual Homeroom Teacher, a native English-speaking teacher, ensuring that our students develop fluency in both English and Chinese and are prepared for global success.

Key Responsibilities

Co-Teaching Excellence

  • Engage in co-teaching practices with the Bilingual Homeroom teacher, fostering a safe, collaborative, and inclusive classroom environment.

  • Work closely with the Bilingual Homeroom Teacher to develop and implement curriculum-aligned lesson plans that seamlessly integrate English/Chinese language development into core and other subjects, aligned with both the British National Curriculum and Chinese educational benchmarks.

Student Learning and Engagement

  • Facilitate a positive learning environment that encourages student exploration and the development of bilingual fluency.

  • Utilise a variety of teaching strategies to simultaneously develop content knowledge and language skills, catering to the diverse needs of all students.

Assessment and Feedback

  • Regularly monitor and assess student progress, providing constructive feedback to students and parents.

  • Collaborate with the Bilingual Homeroom Teacher to create learning materials and assess student outcomes, adapting to the dynamic needs of the learning environment.

Professional Development and Collaboration

  • Contribute to the school community by actively engaging in professional development opportunities, staff meetings, and school events.

  • Incorporate innovative teaching strategies, including technology, into the classroom to enhance learning experiences.

  • Seek continuous professional growth opportunities to stay abreast of bilingual education trends and best practices, and positively impact on student outcomes.

Language and Cultural Integration

  • Demonstrate a commitment to learning and integrating another language, fostering an environment where linguistic diversity is celebrated.

  • Be attuned to the language learning needs of students, ensuring that they are supported in both English and Chinese language acquisition.

Specialist Collaboration

  • Work in partnership with specialist teachers who support bilingual learners, ensuring a coordinated approach to language development and academic achievement.

Qualifications and Skills Required

  • A Bachelor’s degree and a recognised teaching qualification.

  • Minimum of 3 years teaching experience in Chinese schools, in China and/or Malaysia. Early Years and/or Primary teaching experience highly desirable.

  • Experience teaching in International Schools is an added advantage.

  • Knowledge of the National Curriculum of China and/or Chinese Malaysian Curriculum.

  • Demonstrated excellence in communication and interpersonal abilities.

  • Strong organisational and time management capabilities.

  • Chinese speaker with a functional command of English.

Know their students as people and how they learn

It is an expectation that SRI KDU teachers have detailed knowledge of not only the developmental characteristics and learning needs of the students they teach, but also their personalities and who they are as people. This requires genuine empathy and skill in meeting the wide variety of individual learning and pastoral needs of international school students with their differing linguistic, cultural and educational circumstances.

Plan and deliver excellent learning and teaching

Sri KDU teachers are not only required to stay abreast of their respective curricula but must also set high expectations for their students, and as a result, set challenging learning goals and employ a variety of strategies, resources, and digital technology to support students in achieving top academic outcomes. Encouraging a love for learning, exploration of ideas, and understanding of the world is paramount, emphasizing active student participation and fostering creativity and critical thinking.

Assess, provide feedback and report on student learning and progress

SRI KDU teachers are adept at utilizing assessment to support and develop learning. Employing a range of assessment strategies and data, they inform their appraisal of students' progress, aiding in planning, reporting, and designing appropriate interventions and support.

Demonstrate International-mindedness and Global Citizenship

SRI KDU teachers exhibit the following attributes:
