Sir William Stanier School is seeking an organised, enthusiastic, and practical Casual Design Technology Technician to join our supportive DT Faculty. This flexible role is ideal for someone with good practical skills, a keen eye for detail, and an interest in supporting pupils’ learning in a creative, hands‑on environment.

About the Role

You will provide day‑to‑day support to the Design Technology department, helping to prepare materials, maintain tools and equipment, set up practical resources, and ensure workshops run safely and smoothly. Your work will directly support classroom activities, project work, and examination coursework.

Key Responsibilities

  • Preparing and organising tools, materials, and resources for lessons

  • Maintaining and cleaning equipment, machinery, and workshop spaces

  • Supporting teachers and pupils with practical tasks when required

  • Assisting with stock checks, ordering, and basic maintenance

  • Helping ensure that all health and safety procedures are followed

What We’re Looking For

  • Practical skills in wood, metal, plastics, or general workshop environments

  • Good organisational and communication skills

  • A positive, flexible, “can‑do” approach

  • An understanding of (or willingness to learn) workshop health and safety procedures

Hours & Contract

  • Approximately 5 hours per week

  • Casual contract—hours may vary depending on departmental needs
