We seek an individual who upholds the school's values of Courage, Empathy, Integrity, Tolerance, Respect, and Diligence, underpinned by the Christian faith for the vital role of School Chaplain. This position is integral to the spiritual life and special Anglican character of our school community.

The role:

The Chaplain is charged with preserving and enhancing the special character education and spiritual wellbeing of the school. Reporting to the Principal, Proprietor’s Board, and the Bishop of Waikato, this role is about leading, encouraging, and providing empathetic Christian guidance to students, staff, and the wider WDSG family. The position also includes the teaching of some Religious Education classes at 0.4FTTE.

Key accountabilities:

  • Spiritual leadership: Embed the Chaplaincy vision into the school culture.
  • Worship: Lead Anglican services, including regular prayer, termly Holy Communion, and special events.
  • Pastoral Care: Provide Christian guidance to students and staff alongside the counseling team.
  • Service: Foster a culture of voluntary service and manage community service partnerships.
  • Teaching: Professionally deliver the curriculum

Qualifications and experience:

  • Education: Youth work and/or theological qualifications.
  • Registration: Current NZ teacher’s certificate (or LAT eligibility).
  • Experience: Previous experience in a similar role preferred.
  • Skills: Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
