About This Role

CLEANING SUPERVISOR | FULL-TIME, PERMANENT

  • The role is primarily scheduled from 3:00pm to 11:00pm, Monday to Friday, with the expectation of occasional out-of-hours availability to respond to emergencies. Additional hours may periodically be required to provide cover during staff holidays or weekend events.

  • Salary range of £27,300 per annum (£14/Hr) to £29,250 per annum (£15/hr).

  • Final Closing Date - 31st March 2026.

Job Purpose

St George’s School seeks to appoint a diligent and highly organised Cleaning Supervisor to oversee and maintain exemplary standards of cleanliness, safety, and security across the school estate. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading the cleaning team, ensuring that all facilities are maintained to the highest possible standard while contributing to a safe, well-managed, and welcoming environment for pupils, staff, and visitors.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide effective supervision and coordination of the cleaning team, ensuring that all areas of the school buildings are consistently maintained in a clean, orderly, and presentable condition. 

• Liaise with external cleaning contractors when necessary, arranging support for staff absences, deep-cleaning programmes, and specialist services such as window cleaning. 

• Ensure full compliance with Health and Safety regulations and school policies, with particular attention to the safe handling and storage of cleaning substances in accordance with COSHH guidelines. 

• Deliver training and guidance to cleaning staff as required, promoting best practice in cleaning techniques and the safe use of equipment and materials. 

• Monitor cleaning supply levels and coordinate the timely ordering and replenishment of consumables. 

• Oversee laundry and ironing duties for cloths, tablecloths, and towels used within staffrooms and other designated areas of the school. 

• Take responsibility for securing the premises each evening, including locking buildings, ensuring windows are closed, and activating security alarm systems. 

• Identify and promptly report any health and safety concerns, hazards, or maintenance issues within the school estate. 

• Support the supervision of external contractors operating on site when required. 

• Assist with the preparation and arrangement of rooms for school activities and events as necessary. 

• Respond constructively to reasonable requests from the school’s management team in support of the effective day-to-day operation of the premises.

• Uphold and adhere at all times to the school’s safeguarding and child protection policies, including participation in mandatory training where required.
