About This Role
This is an exciting opportunity for a recent dance or performing arts graduate to gain valuable professional experience within a thriving school performing arts department. The Dance Graduate Assistant will play a key role in supporting the co-curricular dance and theatre programme at Uppingham School, working closely with the Director of Theatre to deliver high-quality productions, dance training, and creative performance opportunities. This position offers the chance to develop skills in choreography, teaching, and production while contributing to a vibrant and ambitious performing arts culture.
The role includes designing and delivering a weekly dance programme across a range of styles, choreographing for major school productions including the annual musical, and producing a dedicated dance showcase during the school year. Alongside this creative work, the successful candidate will gain experience in a leading independent boarding school and will contribute to the wider life of the School through pastoral responsibilities as a tutor in one of the boarding houses.
About you
We are seeking a talented, enthusiastic and committed dance or performing arts graduate with strong practical skills across a range of dance styles, including modern, ballet, jazz, contemporary and musical theatre. The ideal candidate will have experience of choreography and performance, a passion for working with young people, and the confidence to lead and inspire students of all abilities. This role would particularly suit someone considering a future career in dance, performing arts, or education who is keen to gain hands-on experience in a supportive and ambitious setting.
