About This Role

We are seeking a digitally savvy Marketing Assistant to join our creative, dynamic, and collaborative team.

With a keen eye for detail and a passion for social media and emerging digital technologies, you will help bring Stonyhurst’s brand to life online and beyond. From crafting engaging content to supporting the implementation of our strategy, your work will play a key role in connecting Stonyhurst College and Stonyhurst St Mary’s Hall with families across the UK and around the world.

You will assist in the delivery of our annual marketing plan, contribute to campaign execution across multiple channels, and support the day-to-day running of the marketing office.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Support the wider marketing team and internal departments with campaign planning, creative input, and delivery.

  • Manage day-to-day organic social media through Sprout Social, capturing content around campus and at events under the guidance of the Online Marketing Manager. Ensure stories from the communications matrix are fed into marketing from relevant teams alongside.

  • To be responsible for responding to and engaging with social media accounts and email enquiries.

  • Build and circulate the termly digital newsletter, liaising with internal teams to gather content.

  • Update directory listings (online and in print), refining content for clarity and consistency in line with brand voice.

  • Add supplied press releases to Stonyhurst’s website news section and BBSN.

  • Website maintenance, across all school websites, including instigating a process to ensure that content is current and regularly refreshed and liaising cross-departmentally to facilitate it.

  • SEO optimise regular blog articles with articles fed from the Offline Team in line with current campaigns and seasonal themes to drive traffic to the website.

  • Manage stock control of branded merchandise and collateral for Admissions and Experience teams from confirmed stock list from Offline Marketing Manager.

  • Support the Admissions team in preparation for Admissions events.

  • Remain current with emerging technologies, media trends and developments, advise the team and wider school community as necessary.

  • Assist with photography and videography shoots.

  • To attend and support in covering the promotion of Admissions and school events, some of which may take place at weekends and evenings.

  • Provide admin support such as monitoring the Marketing Team inbox, processing invoices, and keeping mailing lists up to date on a regular basis.

  • Manage the website chatbot, ensuring content remains accurate and up to date, while monitoring enquiries and escalating as appropriate.

  • Ensure the Family Room, Shireburn Room, Reception, and press cabinet are stocked with the latest press materials.

  • Order relevant press publications (e.g. Tatler).

  • Work flexibly as is necessary within a small department.

  • Comply with and promote the School’s Health and Safety Policies and Procedures and maintain a safe environment for pupils, staff and visitors ensuring that reasonable care is always taken for the health, safety and welfare of yourself and others.

  • To be familiar with relevant policies and procedures and to take responsibility for promoting and safeguarding the welfare of the children and young people in School.

  • Carry out any other reasonable duties as may be required from time to time within the context of the post.

Person Specification

EDUCATION/TRAINING/QUALIFICATIONS

  • Educated to degree level or equivalent - Essential

KNOWLEDGE/EXPERIENCE

  • At least three years of experience in a marketing or communications role - Desirable

  • Experience in, or a knowledge of, the education sector - Desirable

  • Experience of agency management - Desirable

  • Experience of, and proficient in, Microsoft Office software - Essential

  • Practical working knowledge of design software (e.g. Adobe Creative Cloud, Canva) - Desirable

  • Proven experience of delivering strong and engaging content specifically the creation of compelling PR stories - Desirable

  • Experience of using a content management system - Desirable

  • Experience of using email service provider - Desirable

  • Experience of project and or campaign management - Desirable

  • Experience of managing a budget - Desirable

  • Experience of using social media in a professional context - Essential

  • Experience in the creation and management of website content - Essential
