Huntley School is seeking an enthusiastic and talented director of music to lead and grow our vibrant music programme from Term 2 2026 (with flexibility around the start date for the right candidate).
This is an exciting opportunity for an energetic educator and musician to inspire students, develop performance opportunities, and contribute to the wider life of our busy boarding and day school community.
The role
The director of music will:
Lead and oversee the school’s music programme across year levels
Teach classroom music and/or instrumental music (depending on strengths)
Direct ensembles, choirs, and performance groups
Organise and run concerts, performances, and music events
Support students in their musical development, confidence, and creativity
Work collaboratively with staff and contribute to the wider co-curricular programme
The ideal candidate will have
A passion for music education and working with young people
Strong skills in performance, leadership, and programme development
Experience directing groups (choir, ensemble, band, etc.)
Excellent organisation and communication skills
A warm, energetic, and professional approach
Willingness to contribute to school life beyond the classroom
