International teaching: If this is potentially your first international teaching post you may find it useful to consider the followingLearn as much as possible about Vietnam
Have realistic expectations
Be adaptable to a different set of lifestyle expectations. These can be inspiring, including exciting travel in Asia and beyond, living in Vietnam, working with respectful students. The cost of living in Vietnam is reasonable compared to the UK. Your salary goes further in Vietnam. However, everyone who chooses to teach internationally experiences culture shock or homesickness at some point and this is to be expected.
Always try to understand the host country perspective. It will be different.
Develop a degree of tolerance, by being flexible and open towards a new culture.
Do not expect your new culture to replicate that of your home country. Remain flexible. Maintain a sense of humour and you will enjoy your experience all the more.
