We seek to support our students development in five core areas: effective communication, collaboration, problem-solving and critical thinking, self-directed learning, and global leadership. In addition, we offer a number of Advanced Placement courses to validate the academic standard of our program and build our students confidence in their abilities to complete college level coursework.

As an English Teacher in our program you would be responsible for supporting our students to find their voice in English and express themselves with confidence at a high level. We fully recognize that English is more than grammar and texts, it is an essential tool for connection with both knowledge and people beyond MCQ. If our students leave MCQ fully bilingual, they will be able to communicate and collaborate with about one-third of the world’s population.

Your core teaching responsibilities would include

  • Teaching AP English Literature and Composition: Create curriculum that helps students reading and critical analysis of such works of fiction, drama, and poetry, selected locally by responsible educators, provide rich opportunities for students to develop an appreciation of ways literature reflects and comments on a range of experiences, institutions, and social structures. Students will examine the choices literary writers make and the techniques they utilize to achieve purposes and generate meanings.
  • Support students: to develop and share their own historical research (papers, podcasts, videos, presentations). Students should be able to identify and select meaningful and trustworthy primary and secondary sources, integrate information from various sources to create arguments supported by evidence, and understand the importance of citing sources. They should then be able to contribute.
  • Contribute to the development of specialized English classes: like those found in university, to help students to develop a deeper understanding and passion for reading, writing, storytelling OR to the development of introductory courses that help students improve their English skills through purposeful activities and projects.
  • Contribute to interdisciplinary project development: support students abilities to make cross-curricular connections.

A minimum of 2 years of AP teaching experience is essential.

A firm understanding of the AP curriculum standards, exam structure, and College Board requirements to design a Scheme of Work (SOW) for the subject.

Strong curriculum development and instructional design skills. Excellent communication and teamwork abilities, with the capacity to motivate students and help them achieve academic success.

Strong preference will be given to teachers with additional experience designing and facilitating interdisciplinary, standards-aligned projects, and experience collaborating with other teachers to create interdisciplinary lessons.
