About This Role
The Post: English Teacher
The successful candidate will join an outstanding department. As an English teacher at DIS, you will become part of a highly-skilled and passionate team whom all contribute to planning and delivering an engaging curriculum and support the enrichment opportunities offered by English across the whole school.
The IB English Language and Literature course is well-established within the department and its ethos is used in order to shape the journey of all English students from Year 7 upwards. Our concept-focused curriculum allows students to develop their English skills alongside their learner behaviours and communication skills.
Most teachers in the department teach across the three Key Stages which supports us in focusing our staff-development on outstanding teaching and learning in English and creates an environment in which all staff can lead and take risks within their practice. At KS4, students study IGCSE English language and literature.
GCSE results have seen a three-year trend of outstanding outcomes, with 89% of students attaining A*-B last academic year. Student success continues into IB with 92% of students attaining a Level 5 or above last year and 60% attaining a Level 6 or above. This post advertised offers an exciting opportunity to be part of a popular and successful department.
