About This Role

Do you see yourself in this description?

You are a trustworthy teacher with empathy, a sense of humor, and a touch of idealism, committed to the well-being of our students. With creative approaches, you inspire young people to engage with languages, especially English, ideally also French or German.

In small learning groups averaging six students, you respond to the individual needs of our Ecolianers and create a framework in which content is conveyed in a vivid and engaging way. You actively enrich our holistic co-curricular program, particularly in music, performing arts, sports, art, or handcrafts. You can

imagine not only working here, but also living here and contributing to boarding school life.

What sets you apart:

  • University degree in English (or native English speaker combined with a degree in language studies)

  • Ideally experience teaching at lower secondary level (grades 7–9) and upper secondary level (Matura / university entrance level)

  • Openness to new forms of learning

  • Enjoyment of working with young people

What you can expect from us:

  • A varied and wide-ranging role with ample room for initiative, creativity, and new ideas

  • Teaching in small courses and classes

  • Working with other dedicated teachers, living in a welcoming community

  • The opportunity to engage with reform pedagogy, Ruth Cohn’s Theme-Centered Interaction, and Martin Wagenschein’s

    didactics of exemplary, discovery-based learning

  • A place to live and work in the heart of the Swiss Alps, inviting you to ski, hike, cycle, and enjoy many other outdoor

    activities, also during holidays

  • The possibility for your children aged 12 to 19 to attend our school

Core Responsibilities

  • Deliver high-quality, engaging lessons aligned to the required curriculum.
  • Create a supportive and inclusive classroom environment for diverse learners.
  • Assess student progress rigorously and provide timely, constructive feedback.
  • Participate actively in broader school life, including extra-curricular programs.
  • Collaborate with departmental colleagues to elevate instructional strategies.

Candidate Requirements

  • A recognized teaching qualification (e.g., PGCE, QTS, or equivalent).
  • A minimum of 2 years verifiable post-qualification teaching experience.
  • Demonstrable track record of excellent student outcomes.
  • A bachelor's degree directly related to your teaching specialization.
  • Clear criminal record check spanning the last 10 years of residency.
