Southfields Academy, a thriving secondary school, seeks a passionate and enthusiastic teacher to join our dynamic Science Department from September 2026. 

Our science department is committed to providing a high-quality education while fostering a love of learning.  Staff are ambitious for all students - at Key Stage 4, our students achieve above expected targets consistently. 

The department offers a range of courses at Post-16, A levels in Biology, Chemistry and Physics and a Vocational Level 3 science course.  The sciences are a popular choice for our KS5 students.  Additionally, the department offers courses to our unique ‘International Group’ of students.

 

What we are looking for

We are looking for a motivated, inspiring and experienced Science Teacher who will be able to teach this to students of all abilities up to A Level. Candidates will need excellent planning skills, good classroom management and be able to teach in a variety of teaching and learning styles.

 

The ideal candidate will

·         Have QTS and recent UK experience of delivering good to outstanding lessons across a range of abilities

·         Bring secure subject expertise and a track record of raising attainment through smart use of assessment and intervention

·         Have a passion for engaging and inspiring young learners

·         Be a strong classroom practitioner with effective teaching and learning strategies

·         Be a team player with excellent communication and interpersonal skills

·         Be committed to professional development and continuous improvement

All teachers have professional development opportunities, designed for their career point, and department meetings are more often than not given over to the development and refining of practice rather than housekeeping.

Early Career Teachers benefit from a programme led by members of the Senior Leadership Team, there is an Early Professional Development Programme for second year teachers and through leadership opportunities across the Academy there is a culture of pushing those aspiring middle and senior leaders to reach their goal.

The Academy has a private day nursery available at a discount to all Academy Staff, subject to spaces being available.

Subject to the position and to negotiation with the Principal, part time working is supported at all levels.

€35,000 - €50,000 (Pre-Tax)
