About This Role

Collegio San Carlo is an independent Catholic School and one of Milan's historic educational institutions, having celebrated its 150th Anniversary in 2019. This is a unique opportunity to join an Education Community that is deeply rooted in the city’s history and combines tradition and innovation  to all its Educational streams,  catering to a student body of nearly 2000 students .

Collegio San Carlo’s “Intercultural Programme” runs from K – Yr 13, branching out into five different streams of High School, including the IBDP.

The main objective of this programme is to combine a strong international bilingual program to the curriculum established by the Italian Ministry of Education by delivering 50% of the subjects in the English language, in a carefully aligned and integrated programme. Each Intercultural class is co-taught by a team of English and Italian teachers. Subjects required to be taught by the English teachers are: English, Geography , Science, Creative Arts and Digital Studies. Specialist fluent English speaking teachers also teach PE and Music.

The Floater teacher will be part of the Primary Team , working across all grades as required for : ESL support, substitutions, special projects , school trips ( day trips and longer trips to UK or within Italy). This position offers the possibility to work within a very vibrant and collaborative part of the school and is well suited to candidates who are good team workers, are well organised and have good classroom managements skills.

The following qualifications, experience and skills are required:

 

·       At least 2 years of teaching or working as TA at Primary level

·       Bachelor’s degree in Education

·       Experience the Primary Cambridge International Curriculum or similar

Experience teaching ESL students

·       Recognise collegiality as a key educational value     

·       Excellent Team player

·       Fluent speaker of English

·       Basic knowledge of Italian preferable

·       EU passport or with valid working papers for Italy, preferably already living in or around Milan

Candidate Requirements

  • A recognized teaching qualification (e.g., PGCE, QTS, or equivalent).
  • A minimum of 2 years verifiable post-qualification teaching experience.
  • Demonstrable track record of excellent student outcomes.
  • A bachelor's degree directly related to your teaching specialization.
  • Clear criminal record check spanning the last 10 years of residency.
