Imagine leading the establishment of a new specialist school where all ākonga regardless of their ability are empowered to reach their full potential.

We are looking for a visionary tumuaki who will champion innovation, inclusion and excellence in both teaching and learning.

The first to be established in 50 years, our new specialist school (initially known as the Palmerston North Specialist School) will consist of a ground up new build base school located in Palmerston North with strategically positioned with satellite classes in Palmerston North, Feilding, Bulls and Woodville, inclusive of a hub supporting students transition into society.

The school will cater for ākonga aged 5-21 and be more than just a place for learning. We want it to be a thriving learning environment based on shared values and a joint desire for success, a place that is culturally responsive with aromatawai at its core.

You will build relationships with and work alongside other fundholder schools in the Palmerston North area (i.e. Freyberg, Central Normal and Awatapu).

We seek a leader who leads through example, is bold in their endeavour and deeply committed to meeting the needs of all. They will be able to lead a team of multi-disciplined professionals such as educators, specialists, occupational and speech-language therapists and psychologists and other professionals to make sure every ākonga receives the best individualised high-quality support.

Experience in a specialist school is preferred.

You will need to have proven experience and success in running a school administratively including property, finances, staffing and compliance.

As tumuaki you will lead, being supported by a high performing passionate team dedicated to ākonga success, drive innovation and strategic growth. You will build strong partnerships with whānau, the wider community and key stakeholders.

The school opens in Term 2, 2027. Position available ASAP after appointment.
