About This Role

About Citizens School

At Citizens School, we are redefining education through a forward-thinking approach to school, where learners are empowered through our distinctive vision to "Inspire, Empower, Thrive." Our core values and unique approach revolve around four pillars: nurturing entrepreneurial mindsets, implementing inquiry-based learning, promoting transdisciplinary project-based learning, and ensuring that every learner is known and valued as an individual. We are dedicated to preparing learners for the challenges of the future by embedding real-world applications into every subject and encouraging each individual to explore and grow in a supportive and inclusive setting.

Role Overview

We are seeking an exceptional French Secondary Mentor to reimagine modern languages education. This role goes beyond grammar and vocabulary. You will position French as a living language used to debate global issues, pitch ideas, collaborate across cultures, and build confidence.

In your role you will shape a progressive French curriculum from lower secondary through iGCSE and beyond, aligned with British curriculum outcomes, IB-style inquiry, and KHDA quality indicators for teaching, learning, and assessment.

Key Responsibilities:

1.      Curriculum Design & Innovation

·       Co-design and deliver a rigorous, engaging French curriculum aligned with iGCSE outcomes and Citizens’ entrepreneurial framework.

·       Ensure progression in listening, speaking, reading, and writing, with explicit focus on oracy and authentic communication.

·       Integrate cultural, social, and global contexts aligned to UAE values and international mindedness.

·       Differentiate learning to meet diverse needs, collaborating closely with the Inclusion team to ensure access for all learners.

·       Design meaningful assessments that track progress, inform feedback, and drive intervention.

2.     Inquiry-Based Language Learning

·       Embed inquiry-led approaches where learners use French to ask questions, explore perspectives, and solve problems.

·       Move beyond transactional language learning to purposeful communication, debate, storytelling, negotiation, and persuasion.

3.     Project-Based & Transdisciplinary Learning

·       Lead and contribute to transdisciplinary projects linking French with business, sustainability, humanities, and global citizenship.

·       Support learners in applying French in real-world contexts: enterprise projects, cultural exchanges, media, and performance.

4.    Personalised Learner Experience

·       Live the Citizens principle of “Everyone known and known well.”

·       Build strong relationships that enable personalised goal-setting, confidence-building, and learner ownership.

·       Support learners’ academic, linguistic, and personal development.

5.     Team Contribution & Professional Culture

·       Actively contribute to a high-performing team with a solution-focused, growth-oriented mindset.

·       Collaborate to align practice, moderate standards, and continuously improve provision.

·       Participate in and, when required, lead efficient and purposeful meetings with clarity and impact.

Qualifications and Skills

·       French language specialist.

·       Proven experience delivering iGCSE French or equivalent.

·       Strong understanding of inquiry-based and project-based pedagogy.

·       Commitment to inclusive, personalised learning.

·       Bachelor’s degree in French, Languages, or a related field.

·       Valid teaching qualification and minimum two years’ experience.

·       High digital literacy and confidence using technology to enhance learning.

·       Strong organisational, interpersonal, and communication skills.
