Yarrells Preparatory School seeks to appoint outstanding, enthusiastic, and committed university graduates to join our team as Graduate Sports Assistants from September 2026. The principal duty of this role is to support the delivery and coaching of our Sports Programme, with a focus on Netball, Rugby, Cricket, Football and Racket Sports.
Our programme aims to provide all pupils with the opportunity to explore the benefits of sport, express themselves through physical activity, and support those who wish to excel in their chosen discipline. The successful candidate will also assist with our extra-curricular activities programme and may contribute to an academic department, depending on their strengths and interests.
This role is ideal for graduates considering a career in teaching, offering first-hand experience in an independent preparatory school environment. We also welcome applications from students seeking a placement to support their degree or those taking a year out, regardless of their long-term career aspirations.
Key Responsibilities
Coach and deliver high-quality sports sessions in at least one of the listed sports, with a willingness to support other sports as required.
Assist in the planning and delivery of the Sports Programme, ensuring it is inclusive, engaging, and developmental for all pupils.
Support the extra-curricular activities programme, including clubs, fixtures, and school events.
Contribute to the wider school community, potentially assisting in an academic department or other areas of school life.
Act as a positive role model, promoting the values of teamwork, resilience, and sportsmanship.
Salary, Hours and Benefits
Salary: £21,350 per annum, based on a 40-hour week, term time only
Hours: 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday

Person Specification
A recent university graduate with a passion for sport and education.
Experience coaching or playing at least one of the listed sports to a good standard.
Enthusiastic, adaptable, and committed to working with children aged 6 months to 11 years.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Willingness to contribute to the broader life of the school.
Reliable, professional and able to build positive relationships with children
Hold, or be willing to obtain, an enhanced DBS check

- Clear criminal record check spanning the last 10 years of residency.
