Reporting to the Deputy Principal, Pedagogy and Curriculum, this senior leadership role is responsible for shaping and leading curriculum design, development, and implementation across our national services. The role ensures learning programmes align with the New Zealand Curriculum, Te Whāriki, and NCEA pathways while reflecting the unique needs, strengths, and identities of Deaf and hard of hearing learners.

Working collaboratively with leaders, teachers, Resource Teachers of the Deaf, NZSL tutors, and support staff, the Head of Curriculum and Resources leads innovation in bilingual education through New Zealand Sign Language and English. The role supports the development of inclusive, culturally responsive programmes that embed Deaf pedagogy, Universal Design for Learning, and honour our obligations under Te Tiriti o Waitangi.

You will lead a specialist team responsible for curriculum development, digital and library resources, Deaf Studies, EOTC and innovative learning programmes. This includes supporting curriculum delivery across Ko Taku Reo’s Enrolled School, Outreach services, Early Years programmes, Immersion and Residential services, and online learning environments.

This role also champions equitable access to learning pathways for Māori Deaf, Pasifika Deaf, and culturally diverse learners, ensuring Deaf culture, identity and language are embedded throughout teaching and learning.

This is a permanent, full-time role, based in either Auckland or Christchurch. This role is 0.8 released with a 0.2 CRT release teaching component and is remunerated with MU.

We are looking for a strategic and collaborative leader with extensive curriculum experience, strong knowledge of Deaf education and bilingual learning, and a commitment to inclusive education. A current practising certificate and experience with NCEA and national curriculum frameworks are essential.
