Head of English

Sacred Heart College Napier is seeking an inspiring and dynamic Head of English to lead our enthusiastic English department. We are an integrated Catholic girls’ college for Year 9–13 in the beautiful Hawke’s Bay. We are a school committed to excellence in teaching and learning, and we are looking for a leader who can foster a culture of creativity, critical thinking, and high achievement.

The successful applicant will:

• Be an experienced, innovative and collaborative leader with effective communication skills.
• Demonstrate strong knowledge of the NZ English curriculum.
• Have a clear vision for delivering a robust and engaging English curriculum across all year levels.
• Be committed to supporting the holistic development of our students within our special character environment.
• Be committed to supporting our Special Character and extra-curriculars.

This is a full-time, permanent role commencing Monday 20 July 2026 (Term 3).

Staff are expected to recognize and respect the school’s Catholic special character and be actively involved in the total life of the school, in a manner which respects the religious instruction given and religious observances practiced within the school.
