Job Overview
Capital School Bahrain is seeking to appoint an experienced and forward-thinking Head of Science to lead and develop our Science department across Key Stages 3 and 4, with a strategic focus on strengthening provision and preparing for continued growth at A-Level.
This role is central to driving high standards in Biology, Chemistry, and Physics, ensuring strong outcomes at IGCSE and building capacity for post-16 success. The successful candidate will be an established Head of Science or an experienced Deputy Head of Science with demonstrable A-Level teaching experience and departmental leadership capability.

The Role
The Head of Science will:
Lead and manage the Science department, including Biology, Chemistry, and Physics
Drive curriculum planning, sequencing, and assessment from KS3 through KS5
Ensure consistently high-quality teaching and learning across all Science disciplines
Use assessment and performance data to raise attainment and progress
Lead preparation, delivery, and development of IGCSE and A-Level Science courses
Line manage Science staff and support professional development and coaching
Oversee practical science provision, including health and safety compliance
Contribute to whole-school improvement priorities and leadership initiatives
Person Specification
Essential
Qualified teacher status in a Science specialism (Biology, Chemistry, or Physics)
Strong subject knowledge across the Science curriculum
Proven experience teaching A-Level Science
Previous experience as a Head of Science or Deputy Head of Science
Experience delivering the English National Curriculum and IGCSE specifications
Strong leadership, organisational, and communication skills
Desirable
Experience in an international or British overseas school
Experience leading curriculum development or examination outcomes improvement
