About This Role

The Fulham Boys School is seeking a passionate and committed Head of Science to lead the department in the next phase of its development. Having designed an engaging, challenging and practical-led curriculum, Science is now a thriving department within the school, with excellent uptake at A-level. We are delighted to be fully staffed for 2026-27 with subject expertise across all three sciences. The new Head of department will be taking over the team at an exciting time as the department continues to grow and flourish.

Our Science department has seen huge growth in the last 3 years and the Sciences are increasingly popular subjects within our Sixth Form, with consistently large classes in all Biology, Chemistry and Physics at A Level. At GCSE, Science achieved a value-added score of +0.53 in 2024, contributing to an overall school Progress 8 score of +0.96 that puts FBS in the top 2% in the country for academic progress. The successful applicant will play a crucial role in taking the department to the next level, strategically ensuring the increasing success of boys’ outcomes at KS4 & KS5.

The department strives to prioritise practical skills throughout the curriculum. Lessons take place in six purpose-built science labs, with a dedicated Science technician on hand to support and provide state of the art equipment.

About The Fulham Boys School

The Fulham Boys School, located in the heart of Fulham, is a highly successful and oversubscribed school with an excellent reputation in the local community. In 2024 the school sat in the top 3% nationally for progress at GCSE and matched this with equally impressive results in 2025. Having achieved 95% passes in English & Maths, the school is not only top of the borough for these core subjects but also the top state non-selective boys school in the country. More value is added through our thriving Sixth Form, with the school proud to once again achieve a positive progress score which places us in the top 30%, nationally for KS5 progress, completing a seven-year journey of academic excellence for our boys.

We offer all of our students an extended school day with all of our boys in school until 4:10pm Monday to Thursday and 2:45pm on Fridays. During this time, our extensive co-curricular offer enables students to take on a new sport and find their passion outside of the classroom. We want our students to leave FBS equipped for the workplace and life beyond.
