Awatea Kindergarten is situated close to the centre of Porirua, a vibrant and diverse community known for its rich cultural identity and strong sense of connection among whānau. The community reflects a youthful, multicultural population, including significant Māori and Pacific communities, whose languages, traditions, and values contribute strongly to the character of the neighbourhood.
 
Awatea Kindergarten sits at the heart of this community, surrounded by generations of families who value strong relationships, cultural pride, and shared responsibility for nurturing tamariki.
It is only 10 minutes' walk from the railway station and is next to Porirua East School. We have a rich, well-resourced learning environment, and our multi-level outdoor area provides challenge and opportunities for both active and quiet experiences.
 
We have a genuine commitment to growing our Te Tiriti-based practice, and the local pūrakau of Awarua is the basis of our philosophy which genuinely guides our curriculum. We have strong connections with our local community, especially the community gardens next door and serve the many people of Porirua.
 
We are open full year and licensed for 42 children aged 2 -5 who attend for 6 hours each day.  You will join our team of 4 other teachers.
