About This Role
Virtus College, The British Sixth Form is seeking to appoint an outstanding Headteacher / Principal to lead the next phase of its development.
Founded in 2016 and based in La Moraleja, Madrid, Virtus provides a distinctive British education for students aged 15 to 18. Pioneering in its field, the college is defined by small class sizes, a highly personalised approach, strong pastoral care and an innovative model of university preparation. This is an exciting opportunity for an ambitious, values-driven school leader to join a unique British Sixth Form setting and play a central role in shaping its academic direction, pastoral culture and strategic growth. Working closely with the governance team, the successful candidate will lead the overall management of the school and oversee the delivery of Virtus College’s vision.
The role includes responsibility for academic excellence, pastoral care, safeguarding, staff development, the Student Roadmap, the Mentoring Programme, the Enrichment Programme, admissions and stakeholder engagement.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership and Management
Lead by example, upholding the ethos and values of Virtus.
Foster a culture of trust, respect and professionalism.
Deliver the school’s strategic priorities in collaboration with the governance team.
Ensure effective communication and responsible use of resources.
Academic Leadership
Lead academic excellence across the school, including SEND provision.
Oversee the Student Roadmap, Mentoring and Enrichment programmes.
Promote high-quality teaching, CPD and the effective use of technology.
Support admissions, assemblies, PSHE and compliance with relevant requirements.
Pastoral Care, Health & Safety
Ensure strong pastoral care, student wellbeing and staff support.
Promote a culture of respect, integrity and collaboration.
Oversee Health and Safety, safeguarding and student leadership initiatives.
Strategic Leadership and External Relations
Build strong relationships with families and key stakeholders.
Enhance the school’s profile through effective partnerships and communication.
Work closely with Marketing and Admissions to support recruitment and outreach.
The successful candidate will have:
A recognised British teaching qualification for secondary education.
Significant senior leadership experience in British and/or international schools.
Strong leadership and team-building skills.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
A clear commitment to academic excellence and student wellbeing.
Strong empathy with the values and ethos of the school.
Fluency in spoken and written English.

Salary: Competitive salary aligned with the Spanish market; conditions to be discussed during the early stages of the selection process.
