About This Role
Owing to the forthcoming retirement of the current Headteacher, an exciting opportunity has arisen to lead our vibrant school. We are a special needs school (age 4-19 years) situated in north Lancaster and we are proud to have been recognised as ‘outstanding’ by Ofsted for our last five inspections. We also have an onsite independent Post 19-25 provision, ‘Grizedale Centre’ that offers adult social care and health placements to identified leavers from the Loyne School.
Our outstanding special school has a proven track record as a centre of excellence, sharing expertise with a range of partners both locally and regionally. Our hardworking staff team are skilled and enthusiastic and pupils take a delight and joy in their learning and achievements. The school is effectively and robustly lead by a highly experienced and well established leadership team, supported by a knowledgeable Governing Body.
This year brings exciting changes as the school begins its expansion to provide additional SEND places for up to 30 new pupils across the next 3 years. This will provide challenge, and we are seeking a Headteacher who will embrace changes and continue to lead and navigate our school with a dedication and a passion that continues to foster our climate, values and culture.
In addition we are seeking someone who can demonstrate:
A passion to ensure every pupil succeeds and reaches their full potential
Considerable experience in teaching pupils with complex needs
Evidence of outstanding teaching and successful school leadership
The ability to lead and successfully navigate change
Drive and capacity to develop a clear vision, working in partnership with pupils, families, governors and other providers
Skills and experience to inspire and continue the development of this school as a centre of excellence
Excellent interpersonal skills based on effective communication
An awareness of their own strengths and areas for development and a willingness to listen to, reflect constructively and act upon, as appropriate, feedback from others
