About the Role and You

 

Contract Type: Full Time, Permanent


Salary: Competitive, commensurate with experience


Start Date: September 2026, or later by arrangement for the right candidate

As Headteacher, you will provide clear strategic leadership and operational direction across the school. You will play a pivotal role in shaping the vision, strengthening standards, and ensuring that St Martin’s continues to deliver an exceptional educational experience.

 

You will bring energy, insight and ambition to the role, with the ability to balance strategic thinking and hands-on leadership, inspiring both staff and pupils to achieve their very best.

 

Key Responsibilities

 

  • Provide strong, values-driven leadership aligned with the school’s vision and future direction

  • Drive high standards of teaching, learning and pupil outcomes across Nursery and Prep

  • Lead, develop and inspire a committed staff team, fostering a culture of excellence and collaboration

  • Ensure the highest standards of safeguarding, wellbeing and pastoral care

  • Oversee and enhance a broad, balanced and engaging curriculum

  • Track pupil progress and attainment, including preparation for 11+

  • Build strong relationships with parents, pupils and the wider community

  • Lead pupil recruitment and retention to support the continued growth of the school

  • Ensure compliance with independent school standards and regulatory requirements

  • Oversee effective operational and financial management

 

About You: The successful candidate will:

 

  • Hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and a relevant degree

  • Be either an experienced Headteacher or a Senior Leader ready to progress into headship

  • Demonstrate a strong track record of impact, leadership and school improvement

  • Possess excellent communication, interpersonal and organisational skills

  • Be a thoughtful, reflective leader with the ability to think strategically and act decisively

  • Show a genuine passion for education, child development and pastoral care

  • Be committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children

  • Have the presence and credibility to lead and inspire across the school community
