About This Role

PURPOSE OF THE JOB:

To teach, supervise and assess assigned students according to their educational needs and deliver the relevant curriculum, ensuring that each student achieves academic success.

To contribute to the wider school community.

To supervise Junior Teachers and Learning Support Assistants.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Curriculum

Demonstrate good knowledge of the Curriculum, keeping abreast of current changes and modifications.

Be fully aware of and implement all School policies, schemes of work and agreed planning.

Adopt a Project Based Learning approach to learning, teaching and the enrichment program.

Produce well planned, interesting and differentiated lessons from the medium-term plans, using the agreed school format and make available on the school drive.

Be aware of and use the resources in the school to enhance teaching and students’ learning.

Ensure that all subjects are being allocated the correct amount of teaching time dictated by the school (particularly in the absence of specialist colleagues) and that students receive the amount of expected teaching in any given subject.

Ensure that academic standards and expectations are maintained and that the students are given regular written and verbal feedback with work being marked as per the school policy.

Ensure that any records of assessment are kept up to date.

Administer and mark any formal assessments in accordance with guidelines given.

Encourage students to develop skills for lifelong learning.

Administration

Ensure that the class register is completed using the school guidelines and handed in to the school receptionist.

Ensure that any late children are sent to the receptionist to be marked present.

Prepare and complete comprehensive and informative reports as decided by the Principal using the formats given.

Ensure that reports are completed by the deadlines given having been checked and then reviewed by another member of staff.

Ensure that the class file is organized properly, kept up to date and remains at school in case of absence.

Ensure that all records and data collection are kept up to date on the data base and that information is passed on by deadlines given.

Behaviour Management

Create an environment where good behaviours are encouraged and rewarded.

Implement the school behaviour management policy.

Resources

Ensure that resources are looked after carefully by all students and that students are taught to use them appropriately.

Ensure that all resources are stored tidily and appropriately.

Work with colleagues and specialist teachers in putting together orders.

Additional Responsibilities

Undertake before school, after school and break, duties as outlined by the principal.

Undertake assemblies, parent’s meetings and information meetings as outlined by the principal.

Liaise with the SENCO regarding children needing or receiving support.

Be available as required to assist with admission interviews.

Professional Development

Keep up to date with current educational development.

Take part in training programs which support continuing professional development.

Take part in the school’s monitoring procedures.

General

Embrace and encourage the ethos and standards of excellence of Vernus International School. Uphold the school's principles and philosophy.

Implement and support any decisions and policies made by Senior Management.

Be aware of health and safety procedures and notify year leaders and the doctor of any concerns.

Undertake any additional duties relevant to their position as required.

Take an active part in the monitoring process and develop a self-reflective and evaluative approach in the classroom and teaching.

Act as a cover teacher if required by the principal.

Support and uphold the agreed policies and practices of the school.

Play an active role in community events that the school might organize for children, families, school staff or the community at large as per the principal’s directions.

Overall, actively, and enthusiastically contribute where and as needed to build the Vernus International School student body, reputation and community.

Compensation

£35,000 - £55,000 (Tax-Free Equivalent)
