High School English Teacher
We are currently seeking a full-time High School English Teacher to join our Humanities Department. This permanent position offers an exciting opportunity to teach English and Pre-AP English at the secondary level while inspiring students to develop strong literacy skills, critical thinking abilities, and a lifelong appreciation for literature.
Position Overview
The High School English Teacher is responsible for delivering high-quality, standards-based instruction aligned with Common Core and Pre-AP/AP frameworks. The successful candidate will foster analytical reading, effective writing, research skills, and thoughtful discussion in a safe and inclusive classroom environment.
Key Responsibilities
Deliver engaging, standards-based English instruction
Teach literature, composition, grammar, and analytical writing
Prepare students for Pre-AP and AP-level rigor
Use formative and summative assessments to monitor progress
Differentiate instruction to support diverse learners
Incorporate critical thinking, research, and inquiry-based learning
Integrate technology effectively to enhance instruction
Participate in curriculum mapping and vertical alignment
Contribute to professional learning communities (PLCs)
Support school initiatives and student activities
Skills & Qualifications Required:
Bachelor’s degree in English, Education, or related field
Valid teaching certification
Minimum 2 years of high/secondary school teaching experience
Familiarity with Common Core and Pre-AP/AP standards
Strong classroom management and communication skills
Preferred:
Master’s degree in Education or English
AP training or experience
International school experience
Accreditation familiarity (NEASC, WASC, CIS, IB)
