Humanities Teacher
We are looking for an experienced and qualified Humanities teacher to join our department within the secondary section of the school. We are seeking a dedicated educator to focus initially on teaching lower school (age 11-14), across history and geography. The ideal candidate is someone flexible who may also be willing to offer additional subjects in due course such as Global Perspectives or Computer Science.
Deliver challenging, well-organized, relevant, and motivating lessons using diverse, effective methods and differentiated learning. Maintain secure knowledge of subject matter, pedagogy, and relevant curricula/frameworks. Design effective learning sequences with clear objectives, success criteria, and assessment, ensuring progression and integrating digital tools. Ensure effective personalized provision for all students (e.g., IEPs/varying abilities) to promote equality and achievement. Use and develop students' literacy, numeracy, and digital literacy/ICT skills. Use school systems to diagnose needs, set challenging targets, monitor progress, and provide constructive feedback. Utilize internal and external data to inform assessment, review teaching effectiveness, and refine practice. Implement peer and self-assessment to encourage student reflection and improvement. Provide accurate written reports and evaluations demonstrating understanding of reporting arrangements. Establish a purposeful, positive, and safe learning environment, managing behaviour constructively to promote self-control and independence. Ensure health, safety, and well-being; support at-risk pupils through communication with parents/carers and colleagues. Manage effective communications with all stakeholders, conveying timely, relevant information (attainment, progress, well-being), and insisting on the use of English (per policy). Embrace and actively support the school's Mission, Philosophy, Aims, and the One School Policy. Commit to improving practice through professional development, evaluating performance, and acting upon feedback. A degree and a teaching qualification in Humanities (History/Geography). Fluency in English. Experienced and qualified teacher status. Two years of experience is a differential. Secure subject knowledge in Humanities at the secondary level. Proven ability to teach lower school (age 11-14), effectively across both subjects. Previous experience with IB and IGCSEs is desirable. Experience working in a school setting.
