Position Overview
Raffles American School Bangkok is seeking a qualified and student-centered English B / ELL Teacher to join the Middle and High School English Department. The successful candidate willteach IB English B (Language Acquisition) while also contributing to the Middle School English
Language Arts program and providing targeted English language support for multilingual learners.
This role is part of the English Department and focuses on supporting students’ development in reading, writing, speaking, and academic English. The teacher will work closely with colleagues to ensure students are supported in both language acquisition and English literacy.
Teaching and Learning
• Teach IB English B (Language Acquisition) courses in the Diploma Programme
• Teach Middle School English Language Arts, including Grade 6 ELA
• Provide targeted ELL instruction to support students developing English proficiency
• Plan and deliver engaging, standards-aligned lessons that support literacy and language development
• Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of students with varied language backgrounds
• Use formative and summative assessments to monitor student progress and guide instruction
• Provide timely and meaningful feedback to students
Collaboration and Department Responsibilities
• Work collaboratively with the Middle and High School English Department on curriculum planning and instructional practices
• Participate in department meetings, collaborative planning, and professional learning
• Support alignment between English Language Arts and language acquisition courses
• Share strategies and resources that support multilingual learners in English classrooms
Student Support and School Engagement
• Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment
• Communicate effectively with students, parents, and colleagues regarding student progress
• Serve as a homeroom teacher or advisor if assigned
• Participate in school events, activities, and extracurricular programs as appropriate
Professional Responsibilities
• Engage in ongoing professional learning related to IB programs, literacy instruction, and language acquisition
• Contribute to the continued development of the English and language acquisition programs
• Support school initiatives related to curriculum development, assessment practices, and accreditation
• Uphold the school’s professional expectations and safeguarding policies
Qualifications and Experience
• Bachelor’s degree in English, Education, TESOL, Linguistics, or a related field
• Valid teaching qualification or certification
• Experience teaching secondary English, English Language Arts, or English language acquisition courses
• Experience supporting multilingual learners in a secondary school setting
• IB English B teaching experience and/or IB Category 1 training in Language Acquisition preferred
• TESOL, TEFL, EAL certification, or similar language acquisition training is an advantage

We offer competitive salaries, with fully qualified and licensed teachers for full-time teacher roles. There is no additional housing stipend. Candidates will be reimbursed for their flight to Thailand and provided round-trip airfare to their home country at the end of each contract (overseas applicants only). Visa and work-permit expenses will be reimbursed by RAS. Medical, accident, disability, and life insurance are also provided.

Candidate Requirements

- A bachelor's degree directly related to your teaching specialization.
- Clear criminal record check spanning the last 10 years of residency.
