IBDP/HSD Design Technology Specialist Teacher

The Hamilton International School is seeking an outstanding Design Technology Specialist Teacher to join our expanding Secondary team. This is an exciting opportunity for a passionate educator to inspire creativity, innovation, and problem-solving skills across Grades 6–12 within our High School Diploma and IB Diploma pathways.

About the Role

The successful candidate will deliver high-quality Design Technology lessons, contribute to curriculum development, and enrich the learning experience through real-world design challenges, hands-on learning, and modern technological applications. They will be committed to igniting passion, purpose, and potential in every student.

Key Responsibilities

  • Teach Design Technology across Grades 6–8 and Grades 9–12 (HSD / IBDP / A Level pathways).

  • Deliver engaging, challenging lessons that inspire innovation and high achievement.

  • Plan, design, and develop curriculum and departmental resources.

  • Assess, monitor, and record student progress, using data to improve outcomes.

  • Adapt instruction to meet diverse learner needs while maintaining progress for all.

  • Maintain excellent communication with students, colleagues, and parents.

  • Ensure high standards of classroom management, behavior, and safety.

  • Contribute actively to extracurricular activities and wider school life.

  • Model professional conduct, safeguarding practices, and Hamilton’s values.

What We’re Looking For

  • Bachelor’s degree in Education or a relevant Design Technology field.

  • Valid teaching certification meeting Qatar MoEHE requirements.

  • Minimum 3 years of successful teaching experience in DT.

  • Experience teaching Design Technology at High School Diploma, IB DP, or A Level (IB DP DT experience highly advantageous).

  • Strong understanding of modern DT pedagogy, including product design, digital tools, materials, and design processes.

  • Excellent communication, organization, and classroom management skills.

  • A reflective, collaborative, and innovative educator committed to continuous improvement.

  • Fluent in English (mandatory).

Required Skills & Knowledge

  • Strong knowledge of DT curriculum and assessment practices.

  • Ability to design engaging, hands-on, project-based learning experiences.

  • Proficiency with digital design tools and DT workshop equipment (advantageous).

  • Effective behavior management and ability to motivate students.

  • Strong teamwork, interpersonal skills, and cross-cultural awareness.

  • High levels of professionalism, reliability, and attention to detail.
