We are seeking a passionate and experienced kaiako to join our Te Aka Taumatua whānau, with experience in teaching acrossYears 1 - 10. This role can be based in any of our Te Kura tari.
This is an exciting opportunity to nurture and develop ākonga in their journey, while contributing to the preservation and advancement of Māori performing arts and culture in Te Aka Taumatua through teaching and resource development.
Te Aka Taumatua is a new team that leads our bilingual and immersion te reo Māori provision for full-time, tamariki, rangatahi and dual registered ākonga at Te Kura. Te Aka Taumatua is still in its developmental stage but remains focussed on its role in the revitalisation of te reo Māori, to offer comprehensive options grounded in mātauranga Māori for ākonga and their whānau.
This role presents an opportunity to shape the next generation of young Māori leaders while contributing to the revitalization of te reo Māori and preservation of Māori performing arts.
Ko koe tēnei | About you
You will bring:
New Zealand teacher registration and a current practising certificate
Strong proficiency in Te Ao Māori, fluency with te reo Māori
Strong knowledge of the Years 1 - 10 curriculum and assessment practices
Ability to create engaging learning experiences that connect ākonga to their cultural heritage
A calm, inclusive, and supportive approach to teaching and pastoral care
Confidence using digital tools to connect with learners
Enthusiasm for collaborative, values driven teaching
Commitment to the preservation and advancement of te reo Māori
