About This Role

Location: 147 Central Hill, London SE19 1RT
Reporting to: Head of Prep
Contract: Part-time, 2 days per week, Permanent
Start Date: September 2026

About Us

Fidelis Prep is a small, ambitious preparatory school in South London, part of Fidelis College (ages 4 to 18). With small class sizes and a strong culture of care and high expectations, we are committed to forming pupils who are joyful, responsible and courageous, through excellent teaching and strong relationships.

Role Purpose

We are seeking to appoint an excellent Key Stage 1 Class Teacher to join our school on a part-time basis (2 days per week). This role is focused on delivering high-quality teaching in core areas of the curriculum, excluding mathematics and science, which are taught by specialist staff.

The successful candidate will take responsibility for a Key Stage 1 class for two days each week, delivering engaging and well-structured lessons in line with the English National Curriculum. This role would suit a strong practitioner who is passionate about early learning, literacy, and developing confident, curious young learners.

As our Reception and Key Stage 1 provision work closely together as a unit, the successful candidate will also contribute to Reception provision and may undertake some Reception teaching. This supports strong continuity and a seamless transition for pupils across the early years of the school.

Key Responsibilities

We are looking for someone who:

  • Is an excellent classroom practitioner with high expectations for all pupils

  • Holds Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)

  • Has strong subject knowledge, particularly in early reading, writing and the wider curriculum

  • Creates a calm, purposeful and engaging learning environment

  • Is committed to developing the whole child, both academically and personally

  • Works collaboratively and contributes positively to staff culture

  • Is organised, proactive and able to make a strong impact within a part-time role

  • Supports and upholds the ethos of the school

What We Offer

We offer a supportive and ambitious working environment, with a strong commitment to professional development and staff wellbeing. Staff benefits include:

  • A supportive and collaborative staff team where colleagues are known and valued

  • A strong focus on professional development, including access to high quality training

  • Support for further qualifications where appropriate

  • Pension scheme

  • Free school lunches

  • Fee remission for staff children attending Fidelis Prep

  • A culture rooted in high expectations, strong relationships and a shared commitment to forming pupils who are joyful, responsible and courageous

  • Small class sizes, allowing teachers to know pupils well and teach with intention

Why Join Fidelis College

This is a unique opportunity to join a growing and ambitious preparatory school with a clear vision for excellence. You will play an important role in shaping the early educational experience of our pupils and contributing to a strong and supportive staff team.

Safeguarding

Fidelis Prep is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children. The successful applicant will be subject to an enhanced DBS check and satisfactory employment checks in line with recent Government Guidelines (KCSIE) and our Safer Recruitment policy.
