About This Role
Mayfield Preparatory School is an academic, selective Independent Preparatory School (IAPS) in Walsall, educating boys and girls aged 2–11. The school offers small class sizes, excellent behaviour, specialist teaching rooms, modern facilities, and a warm, family atmosphere. This year, 96% of Year 6 pupils achieved Grammar School places, and 10 scholarships were awarded to leading Independent Schools.
We are seeking an enthusiastic, nurturing and dynamic full‑time teacher to join our team from June or September 2026. Initially based in Year 1, the successful candidate will be a confident classroom practitioner with high expectations of pupils, strong communication skills, and the ability to form excellent relationships with pupils, colleagues and parents. Experience with Read Write Inc. Phonics and White Rose Maths is advantageous.
The role includes planning engaging schemes of work, delivering high‑quality teaching across the curriculum, assessing progress, leading a small team, maintaining records and reports, and supporting pupils’ wellbeing as their Form Teacher. The post holder will also assist with wider school events, parental engagement, subject‑based activities, clubs and extra‑curricular opportunities.
