Learning Support Assistant
Are you passionate about making a difference in the lives of young people? We’re looking for a dedicated and empathetic Learning Support Assistant to join our team and support some of our most vulnerable students.
Working closely with students in mainstream lessons and within the SEND team, you’ll be a key part of their journey to overcome barriers to learning and achieve their potential.
Why Join St. Ambrose?
Our three-year trend of results places us among the top-performing secondaries in Salford. Our mantra of ‘improving on previous best’ means we’re always striving to be better. We are an excellent school on a journey to secure Inclusive Catholic Excellence. We value the opinions of our staff, pupils, and parents, who consistently tell us we are doing well. If Ofsted inspections are important to you, feel free to review our report — but we encourage you to visit us in person, walk the corridors, speak to pupils and staff, and make your own judgement.
Every day, we live out our Catholic mission to Love, Learn and Lead.
At St. Ambrose, we prioritise staff well-being and foster a positive, inclusive culture
Work-Life Balance: Flexible policies, including Flexi Days, pet bereavement leave, and supportive dependents/parental leave.
Employee Support: Access to an Employee Assistance Programme offering mental health, financial, legal advice, and life coaching.
Community: Regular staff recognition through nominations and ‘Thank an Educator’ Day.
Perks: Free toast on Friday, end-of-term staff breakfasts, free onsite parking, and staff clubs including book, running, football, and reading.
Schemes: Cycle to Work and Technology Schemes, Byond Card.
Our staff attendance is high, the school is fully staffed, and many staff have been with us long-term — a testament to our positive environment and supportive leadership.
You’ll be part of a great team with strong CPD opportunities and a genuine commitment to work-life balance. Our lunchtime reading and research clubs for staff are very well attended and help keep our teaching fresh and inspiring.
We’re a welcoming school — you’ll even have a laugh while you work. Recent colleagues have said that joining St. Ambrose reinvigorated their love of teaching and strengthened their desire to stay in the profession. We believe in retaining our staff and pupils alike.
We are inclusive, SEND-focused, trauma-informed, and maintain high expectations and standards. We never give up on children. Our outcomes and attendance for vulnerable pupils exceed national averages for SEND and disadvantaged groups, yet we continue to strive for true equity.
Our pupils are respectful, kind, and committed — a calm environment where staff can teach and students can learn.
