About This Role

Three days per week (24 hours), term time only

King Alfred School (KAS) is a progressive independent school in idyllic grounds in North London. Our independence means that we can take a holistic approach to education, value the progress young people make in every area and experiment with innovative ideas.

We invite you to join our wonderful team who work hard to provide a joyful learning experience for the children in our care within our Design and Technology Department. At King Alfred, our Classroom Assistants work in close partnership with the teachers both inside the classrooms and outside in our beautiful grounds. Our holistic approach helps children to love learning, to be proud of their achievements, and to develop key skills of communication, collaboration, and creative thinking.

The post-holder should have:

  • GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Mathematics.

  • A relevant Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification (desirable, not essential).

  • Experience, interest and enjoyment in working with children (e.g. in primary education, nurseries, children’s clubs, or volunteering roles).

  • Experience of working in design and/or awareness of practical, creative or technology-based learning activities suitable for primary pupils.

  • A commitment to child centred education and the ethos of the school.

  • Proven ability to work co-operatively and effectively with colleagues.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

We are seeking to enhance the diversity of our staff and student body and would therefore particularly welcome applications from groups currently under-represented in our school community, especially those from the global majority.

  • Termly opportunity to participate in car parking permit scheme.

  • Use of School gym facilities.
