We are currently seeking a passionate Middle School Math & Computer (IT) Teacher to join our Mathematics Department. This position focuses on teaching Pre-Algebra & Integrated Math within the Common Core curriculum, inspiring students to develop strong analytical and problem-solving skills while integrating computer literacy concepts.

Skills and Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mathematics, Computer Science, Education, or related field (minimum requirement)
- At least 1 year of teaching experience, preferably at the middle school level
- Strong knowledge of Algebra aligned with the Common Core standards
- Strong understanding of computer science principles and IT concepts relevant for middle school students
- Ability to integrate technology effectively into lessons
- Excellent communication and classroom management skills
- Proficiency in using educational software and digital tools

MORE BENEFITS/DETAILS:

-Children: Attend TYIS for free except for ancillary fees (if needed-bus, uniform, etc).

-Company Insurance: Coverage is for Health and Dental. Roughly, it is an 80/20 shared pay system where insurance covers 80% and 20% is covered by the user.

-Taxes and Salary deductions include:

Health Insurance, Employment Ins., Workmans Comp., Pension, Income Tax, Residence Tax

-Paid leave:

Starts at 10 days per year and goes up gradually. There are roughly 3 months of seasonal breaks where you are not required to be on campus.

-Local transportation:

During the school year i.e., daily commuting expenses are covered.

-General Relocation Allowance:

(Outside of Japan) 200,000 yen (must provide receipts---by receipt only---so please save all receipts).

ALL STAFF:

-Tokyo YMCA has a campsite at Yamanaka (near Mt.Fuji), which we take a trip to in the fall

-In the winter, we take a ski trip (site varies).

-You are paid for these trips

-You are not required to work on/at Saturday school. This is a separate entity.

-1US $ is about ¥154 (based on current rates).

-In Tokyo, the housing fee for 2 people is about ¥80,000 to 130,000 per month, depending on the square footage, and is cheaper if you are a few stations away from school.

-The cost of lunch is about ¥800 to ¥1,100 if you go to a restaurant or less if you get a lunch box near our school (you can also get lunch at school for less).

-Dinner is about ¥2,000 to ¥4,000 (for two).

-The average monthly teacher salary in Japan is ¥375,000
