As a voluntary-aided school of 1,400 students, including a thriving Sixth Form of around 400 students, JCoSS is a highly regarded, oversubscribed faith school at the heart of our London community. Our students achieve excellent academic outcomes, with almost 50% of all GCSE grades at 7+ and nearly 50% of all A Level grades at A or A*. Alongside a broad and ambitious A Level offer, we are proud to provide a wide range of vocational pathways, ensuring that every student can pursue excellence in a way that reflects their talents and aspirations. While we celebrate our academic success, we are clear that grades alone do not define an outstanding education. We are currently seeking a Music Teacher to join our school, an exceptional classroom practitioner and passionate advocate for the subject, with the drive and expertise to develop our students’ creative and technical capabilities. We are looking for a dynamic and well qualified teacher/musician who is keen to shape and strengthen our curriculum across all key stages. We welcome applications from early career teachers through to experienced colleagues. What matters most is a clear vision of what superb teaching looks like, intellectual curiosity, and the ambition to make a significant impact.
The Creative Expressive Arts Faculty, which incorporates both Music and Drama is built on a foundation of positive collaboration to create an offer which is exciting, diverse and challenging. We are committed to enabling students to thrive and grow both as performers and in academic study. Music has a high profile and excellent outcomes at JCoSS: it is offered to both GCSE and A Level, and in the 6th Form we also offer Music Technology A Level. The Department and the Faculty also make a big commitment to the Ethos and life of the school, through a wide range of extra-curricular activities and performances, both staff and student-led, which take place throughout the year.
The school places a high value on the opportunities that Music and Drama present, in and out of the classroom, to build personal qualities, encourage self-expression and build teamwork. If you are an enthusiastic teacher of Music who can share this vision, we would love you to join us. The post is suitable for experienced teachers and ECT’s and the potential to teach GCSE and A Level exists for the right candidate. Experience in teaching Music and/or Music Technology A Level would be an advantage.
