Te Kāpehu Whetū seeks an inspiring pūtaiao (science) pouako to join our Tuakana Whare (Year 9–13) for the 2026 academic year (fixed term).

This role focuses on building strong scientific foundations in Year 9–10 while supporting pathways into senior secondary science and NCEA achievement. The successful applicant will deliver engaging science programmes that develop inquiry, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
Teaching may include general science, biology, chemistry, and physics.
Essential attributes:
• Recognised teaching qualification • Current New Zealand teacher registration • Strong understanding of NCEA Level 1–3 requirements • Ability to build strong scientific literacy and inquiry learning • Strong classroom and laboratory management • Commitment to the kaupapa and values of the kura.
Desirable:
• Ability to teach across multiple senior science disciplines • Experience with STEM or cross-curricular learning • Experience working with Māori learners.
Employment is full-time, fixed-term under the Area School Teachers’ Collective Agreement.
