About the PE Department
At Trinity School, the Physical Education department is a passionate, collaborative, and forward-thinking team committed to developing physically literate, socially confident, and independent learners. We aim to inspire students to understand and value the importance of leading an active and healthy lifestyle, recognising the wide-ranging physical, mental, and social benefits of lifelong participation in physical activity.
The department has a strong culture of high expectations and inclusive practice, with a focus on maximising student engagement and achievement. We offer a broad and ambitious curriculum, complemented by an extensive extracurricular programme, and regularly compete in local, regional, and national competitions across sports such as rugby, netball, and football. Participation in sport continues to grow across the school, and we are committed to sustaining this through innovative, creative, and inclusive sporting opportunities.
Academically, the department has recently transitioned to the NCFE Health and Fitness qualification at Key Stage 4. At Key Stage 5, we deliver the highly popular BTEC National Extended Certificate and BTEC National Diploma in Sport, supporting students in progressing to further education and careers within the sports industry. Experience of delivering these qualifications would be advantageous, though not essential.
About You
You will be committed to the development and progress of students, able to facilitate and encourage a learning experience which provides students with the opportunity to achieve their individual potential and you will be the sort of person who enjoys a collaborative team working style, relishes a challenge and is resilient. We are interested in hearing from candidates who are either newly qualified or have 2 – 3 years’ experience of teaching PE. It is an advantage to be able to teach A Level, but this isn’t essential.
The post is predominantly PE, however, there may be a requirement for up to 30% KS3 Science teaching, at least for the first year.
